Ruth O'Brien

Ruth M. O'Brien, 92 of Olathe, passed away on February 4th, 2024 at Cedar Lake Village.

Ruth was born on December 28th, 1931 to Lyman and Elsie (Schauer) Glass in Belvidere, IL. It was in Belvidere that she met and married her high school sweetheart Dan O'Brien. They were married for 56 wonderful years.

Ruth worked as an accountant for many years. After retiring she and Dan loved to travel and visit friends that they had made over the years. She loved gardening, reading a good mystery, playing cards and spending time with friends and family.

Ruth is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Kathleen Patrick; grandchildren, Mackenzie Patrick (Alex), Megan Patrick; sister, Virginia Madden; nephews, Paul Madden, Mark Madden (Sherry); nieces, Mary Madden, Anne Pederson (Steve), Carrie Summers; great nieces, Shannon Pederson, Stephanie Pederson, Adrienne and Kelcey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Elsie Glass; brother, Norman Glass; sisters, Betty Summers and Sandra Glass; husband, Daniel O'Brien; son, Kevin O'Brien.

Visitation will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe on February 20th at 10am. The funeral mass will follow at 11am.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to Great Plains SPCA at donations@greatplainsspca.org. Ruth and Dan both deeply cared for their pets over the years. They had a special place in their hearts for their 8 Basset Hounds that they had throughout the years.
