Russell Rees

Russell "Russ" A. Rees, 77, Olathe, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2006 in his home. The family suggests contributions to the Tribe of Mic-O-Say Heart of America Council, B.S.A and/or Kansas City Hospice.

Russ was born November 29, 1928 in Kansas City, MO living in the Kansas City area all his life. He graduated from Southeast High School in 1945. He was an Eagle Scout Sachem and the tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was on staff at Oceola Scout Camp for two years. He was a S.Sgt. in the U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was on the Mission Urban Township Board in 1959 and in 1960 served on the first Overland Park City Council. Russ was the acting Police Commissioner for Overland Park and was Chairman of the Board to orginate Civil Services for Overland Park Policeman. A life long construction coordinator for home and apartment building locally and throughout the U.S. responsible for some ten thousand units. Russ was an ardent boater, fisherman, and hunter. He served as Scout Master and Explorer Advisor at Valley View Methodist Church and most recently a member of Grace Christian Fellowship Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife; Helen E. "Boots" Rees in 1999.

He leaves son, James R. & wife Sherry L. Rees of Alpharetta, Georgia; daughter, Robin L. & husband Gerald S. "Gary" Paulsen of Paola, KS; grandchildren, Jason Rees & wife Jessica, Zeb Paulsen, Ian Paulsen, Joshua Paulsen, and Remick Paulsen; great grandson, Knox Wheelis.
