Rufus A. Turner

Rufus A. Turner, of Stilwell, Ks., passed away at home on April 12, 2023, at the age of 94. He was a U. S. Navy veteran, serving faithfully and honorably from 1947-1967 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer, Hospital Corpsman from the Olathe Naval Air Station. He fully retired in January 1977, at 30 years. His years of service took him to many countries in the world, including Greece, Turkey, Iceland, Italy, France, England, Morocco, Cuba. He served in the Korean War aboard destroyers, escorted battleships as well as serving shore duty in a variety of states. After retirement from the U. S. Navy, he worked in hospital administration, and later spent 21 years as the administrator of Pine Crest Nursing Home in Paola, Ks. He fully retired at the age of 80 from Suburban Lawn & Garden.
He was an honorable and personable man who was loved by many. He loved God, his country and his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane, two children, Michael Turner and Michelle Meyer (Stephen), and four grandsons, Kellan, Karsen and Keagan Turner and Braden Meyer.
A private service was held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
