Ruby Walton

Surrounded by loving family, Ruby E. Walton , age 92, passed away peacefully on June 11 at Lakeview Village where she had resided for the past several years. Born November 1, 1916 in Linneus, Missouri, she grew up in Kansas City, moving there after her father died in 1922. After graduating from Central High School she worked at Globe Laboratories in the Stockyards District where she met her beau, Art Walton, a cattle buyer with Swift and Company at the time. They eventually married and moved to Olathe, Kansas in 1947 as his cattle business expanded.
New to rural life, she became active in country affairs raising their five children in the Meadow Lane community. She served on the school board for the newly built Meadow Lane school that later consolidated with the Olathe School system, helped start the Little Cedar 4-H Club and was a member of Summerfield Grange..
Ruby 's Christian faith was nourished as a child in the Methodist Church built on land donated by her father in Linn County, Missouri .She was a member of the First United Methodist Church (now Grace) in Olathe since her move to Johnson County. She faithfully served the church in many ways…Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, UMW.
Known for her graciousness and sweet smile, she endeared her self to many people.. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981, and sisters Mabel, Alma, Edna, and Marjorie, and brothers Allen, Orville and Leon,. She is survived by her children, Hank, Julie, Jim (Glenna) Walton and her baby, Becky Parrott (Rob), a beloved sister-in-law, Alletta, 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
