Roy Mowray Johnston age 74, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away February 5, 2011, surrounded by his family, from a courageous battle with multiple health issues.
He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 1, 1936, the son of Mowray and Evon (Sumner) Johnston.
Roy, a 20 year Air Force Veteran serving in Spain, Germany and France. After his military service he worked at Boeing as an Industrial Engineer. Later part-time employment involved Coldwell Banker Real Estate and Securitas.
He is preceded in death by his parents Mowray and Evon (Sumner) Johnston, wife Huguette Marguerite (Chretien) Johnston (1983), and son Ronald Larry Johnston (1987).
Survived by wife Marleen Johnston; children Steve (Vicky) Johnston and Veronica (Joe) Sandbakken; step-daughters Angela (Keith) Kimball and Tamara (Sam) Thomas; eight grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 25, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Olathe Chapel, 14275 Blackbob Rd, Olathe, KS. Interment with military honors will be 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
