Roy Andersen

Roy Mackay Andersen, 78, of Olathe, KS passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be 2PM Thursday, June 11 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the USO at www.uso.org.

He was born September 21, 1930 in Bronx, NY to Jean and Ernst Andersen. He was married his wife of 42 years June Elizabeth (Allen) Andersen in February 7, 1959. He served in the Nuclear Navy as a Nuclear Engineer on Submarines for 20 years before his retirement in 1968. He then went to work for Westinghouse as a nuclear design engineer until 1993. Some of his notable projects included Wolf Creek and Calllaway power plants.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and a grandson Joel K. Frederiksen.

He is survived by 4 daughters Pamela Su Lockwood of Olathe, KS, Heather Lee Andersen of St. Augustine, FL, Elizabeth Grayce Frederiksen of Louisa, VA, and Andrea Anne Andersen of Woodstock, GA. 1 son Kristopher Allen Andersen of Olathe, KS currently serving in Iraq. 1 grand daughter Kristine Alanna Andersen, and 2 grand sons Gunnar Ray Welch and Shaun Kristopher Andersen.
