Ross Stiner

December 19, 1939 — August 6, 2013

Ross Stiner went home to His Lord and Savior on August 6, 2013. Darrell Ross Stiner was born on December 19, 1939, to Nellie E. and Merl E. Stiner on a farm outside Frankfort, Kansas and lived on a farm near Centralia, Kansas until high school graduation.

While attending Emporia State University, Ross met the love of his life, Sharon Ann Archer. They were married on August 4, 1963, and lived their entire married life in Olathe, Kansas.

They raised their two beautiful and talented daughters, Julie Christine Ewing and Jill Suzanne Bergthold. Their two sons- in-law, Paul W. Ewing and Galen L. Bergthold, were a great source of friendship and encouragement over the years. The apple of Ross' eye was his four grandsons Riley, Jackson, Carter, and Truman Ewing.

After graduating from Emporia State in 1962, Ross worked in the loan department at Johnson County National Bank, Prairie Village, Kansas. He moved to First National Bank of Olathe in 1964. In 1971, Ross joined with Herbert H. Fishman to start Fishman and Company Realtors, a commercial real estate brokerage and development firm and they formed a partnership in 1972. They have continued that relationship to the present day with Michael H. Fishman joining the company in 1986. Mr. Stiner loved his career and was instrumental in the growth of Olathe watching Olathe grow from 6,000 residents to 126,000 during his lifetime.

Mr. Stiner was a member of various civic and social organizations during his business career including serving on the Olathe City Planning Commission for 11 years and on the Board of Elders of Olathe Bible Church, serving as Chairman of each organization for several years. He was also a member of Olathe Chamber of Commerce. Ross served on the Board of Directors of the National Christian Foundation for many years retiring in 2012.

Ross became a Royal Lancer with the Kansas City Royals in 1978 retiring in 2004. He was an avid Royals fan during those years and was most proud of being able to attend all of the World Series Games in 1985.
During his lifetime, Mr. Stiner was part of missionary trips from Olathe Bible Church to San Paulo, Brazil; Kunming, China, and Belarus. He and Sharon also had the privilege of traveling throughout the world during their 50 years of marriage.

Mr. Stiner leaves, besides his immediate family, two brothers John A. Stiner, Vermillion, Kansas, and Loren L. Stiner, San Antonio Texas, and a sister, Marilyn M. Wolff, Paola, Kansas. Ross was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Linnea Stiner in 1943.
