Rosario Serraon (Joves) Downey, 75, of Olathe, KS passed away January 31, 2021 at Stratford Commons Memory Care in Overland Park, KS.
She was born on October 14, 1945 to Francisco and Lourdes (Serraon) Joves at Manila, Philippines.
Rosario worked as a paralegal for The Department of Justice for 21 years.
On July 13, 1987, she married Daniel J. Downey, and they made their home in Olathe, Kansas.
She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church since 1989, and was a co-founder of the Our Lady of Fatima Rosary Group at the church. Rose also serves as a lector for readings at Mass and volunteered at Villa St. Francis Nursing Home in Olathe. She enjoyed playing tennis, dancing, and her favorite listening music was the Everly Brothers.
Rosario is survived by her loving husband, Dan, and her siblings Francisco (Frank) Joves Jr., of Manila Philippines; Geronimo (Jerry) Joves of Thousand Oaks, CA; Agnes (Joves) Acosta of Manila, Philippines; Malou (Joves) Harper of Pittsburgh, PA; and Teresa (Joves) Eduarte of Newbury Park, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Ponchit Joves.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Dementia Society of America.
