Ronald Guy Hanney, 76, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, Nov 20, 2018. He was born Feb 23, 1942 in Junction City, Kansas at Geary County Hospital. He graduated from Chapman High School in 1960 and attended Fort Hayes State. He was an award winning salesman, served as a big rig driver, and in retirement drove a Blue Valley school bus for 15 years. He was known as the quintessential master of all trades.
After receiving his call to ministry, he pioneered United Pentecostal Churches in Concordia, Hays, Colby, and South Overland Park, Kansas.
He was a man of strong character, dedicated to his family as a provider and protector, and giant of a man. He was a hero of the Faith who was committed to his church as a good shepherd. He was honored by being selected as Kansas Citian of the Year. Those who knew him will remember him for his energy, enthusiasm and determination to live well.
Ron's love and leadership will be missed by his surviving family and friends – wife Jean Alice Brandt Hanney; children: Denise Jacobson, Michele Aultman, Laura (Ric) Tinney, Rebecca (Rob) Bowman, and Jonathan Michael (Nicole) Hanney; brothers: Larry, Danny, Paul Hanney; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edith Esther Sollenberger Hanney, father Guy Fredrick , sister Sandra Jo.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 12:00-2:00pm on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at First Faith Church, 8633 W. 167th St., Overland Park, KS 66085 with a funeral service to follow at 2:00pm. Burial at Aubry Cemetery in Stilwell, KS.
