Ronald Eugene Plumb, 83, passed away on January 20, 2017 in Olathe, KS.
Ron, adopted son of Lyle Edward and Lillie (Plagman) Plumb, was born December 7th, 1933 in Omaha, NE. His younger years were spent on the family farm near Harlan, Iowa.
Ron spent the first six years of his education at Lincoln #7, a one-room rural school with no electricity or indoor plumbing. The school closed after his sixth year. He attended Harlan Junior and Senior High Schools, graduating with the class of 1951. He attended one semester at Westmar College.
Ron spent three years of active duty in the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Illusive MSO-448 as a Sonarman 3rd Class. After his honorable discharge, he spent three semesters at the University of Iowa.
He worked for Retail Credit Company (Equifax) for 21 years. During that time he worked and lived in Omaha, Lincoln, Georgia, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland and Kansas. He also worked in real estate as a sales manager and in sales for Network Knowledge. He retired in September, 2000.
While living in Connecticut, he served on the Board of the Hartford Jaycees, and as President of the Lions Club.
He married Twyla Savereide in Harlan, Iowa on March 11, 1961. This union was blessed with a daughter, Peri Anne, on January 1, 1962.
Ron is survived by his wife Twyla Savereide Plumb of Olathe, his daughter, Peri Anne Marquardt and son-in-law Dennis Marquardt of Overland Park, and 3 grandchildren, Amy John, Kathleen Hoover and Christopher John.
A visitation will be held at Penwell Gable Funeral Home on Friday, January 27, 2017, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held in Harlan, Iowa, the date yet to be determined.
