Ronald, Ron, D. Faulkenberry, 59, of Olathe, Kansas passed away Tuesday December 15, 2020. A public visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, December 19th at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe Chapel.
Ron was born on July 23, 1961 in Hutchinson, KS before being adopted by James and Bernice Faulkenberry. He received his Bachelor's Degree at Baptist Bible College where he met his first wife Nyana. While Ron and Nyana lived in Overland Park, Kansas, they had Jared and Stephen. After his first marriage, Ron returned to Overland Park, Kansas area where he did contract work as a programming consultant. He spent the last few years of his life with Donna Follick in Olathe, Kansas.
Ron was an avid golfer and bowler. He participated in track, ping-pong, and racquetball during his high school and college years. Ron also enjoyed Putt Putt golf and was adamant that it was not the same as miniature golf. One of his greatest pastimes was sharing his love of the science-fiction and fantasy genre with his two sons through film, television shows, and books. He loved solving problems and playing competitively, with Chess and Risk being among his favorite games. He never went after a hobby casually - he was all-in.
He was always drawn to Kansas City. A lifelong Chiefs and Royals fan, Ron enjoyed participating in Fantasy Football and Fantasy Baseball leagues with friends and coworkers. He was ecstatic that his Chiefs won the Superbowl for the second time in 50 years, having seen their first win when he was 8 years old. He was also a serious fan of the Kansas Jayhawks, looking forward to every March to get his bracket together.
He is survived by his sons Jared Faulkenberry and wife Cristen of St. Joseph, Missouri and Stephen Faulkenberry of Christiana, Tennessee, grandson James Faulkenberry of St. Joseph, Missouri, sisters Betty Quigley of Nixa, Missouri and JoAnn Wieneke of Pittsburg, Kansas, brothers Randy Faulkenberry of Wichita, Kansas and Robert Frager, sisters Judy Steele and Connie Benward, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents James and Bernice Faulkenberry.
