Ronald Gene Ellis

Ronald G. Ellis, 71 of Olathe passed away September 24, 2024.

 He was born on November 19,1952 in Elkhart, KS to Earl and Elizabeth (Betty Delay) Ellis. He was part of a triplet birth along with his brother, Don and sister, Bonnie where hearing of the “Triplets” stirred quite a commotion in a small rural town of Kansas. Ron spent the first 17 years of his life in Hugoton, KS where he attended public schools through his junior year of high school. His parents sold the family farm in the summer of 1970, and moved the family to Olathe, KS where he graduated from Olathe High School in 1971.

 In the fall of 1971, he attended Mid America Nazarene University. Ron worked in residential construction as a finish carpenter for most of his adult life.

 Ron enjoyed hunting game and arrowheads with his brother, Don, riding his motorcycle with his wife, Karen, and taking in the beauty of the country on his Harley. His love for the outdoors was evident in his many travels which included camping, riding, and spending time with friends and family. 

One of the important accomplishments of his life was being the father to Carly Ann. He adored her and was so proud to be a grandfather to Grayson and Olivia.

Ron is survived by his wife, Karen, daughter, Carly Ann (Ryan) Sladek, grandchildren, Grayson and Olivia, stepson Lee (Melissa) Morris, grandchildren, Paris and Mason, and siblings, Gwen Ball, Melanie (Don) Cox, Donald (Deb) Ellis, Bonnie (Steve) Hitchcock, Earlene (Mike) Boles, aunt Janiese Delay, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, and his younger brother, John Mark.

A Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at 11 am (Visitation begins at 10 am) at Penwell-Gabel, Olathe. A reception will follow the graveside service at Bogey’s Pub, 13170 State Line Rd., Kansas City, MO
