Ronald Dougan

May 18, 1928 — January 11, 2015

Ronald Dean Dougan, age 86, passed away January 11, 2015 in Olathe, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Olathe Hospice or to Spring Hill United Methodist Church.

Ron was born May 18, 1928 in Stanley, Kansas to Robert and Anna Johnson Dougan. He served our country in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Spring Hill United Methodist Church and the Spring Hill American Legion.

Ron was self-employed most of his career, working as a heavy-equipment operator and also a dump-truck operator. He enjoyed a life-long passion for automobiles, particularly the classics. There was nothing that he could not do with his hands. He took great pride in doing everything thing the right way and making sure it was perfect.

After retirement, Ron and Doris enjoyed spending the winters in Mission, Texas. They would stay in their "home away from home" during the cold months in Kansas. They enjoyed traveling and visiting his old Army buddies that he was stationed with in Alaska.

Ron is survived by daughter, Sheila Dougan Sheridan, and his brother Jack Dougan, and many nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Doris, in 2011, and his parents Robert and Anna Dougan, his brothers Keith, Leroy (Bud), Charles (Shorty), Myron (Chess), and Donald, and sisters Violet Dougan, Lois Head, Mildred Dougan, Arlie (Marie) Bell, Zona Ambrose and Esther (Topsy) Huff.
