Ronald (Ron) Dean Buffington, of Olathe, KS passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023.
Ron was born on November 29, 1946, in Alliance, Nebraska to Dean and Maxine (Liedloff) Buffington. He attended Alliance Elementary until his family relocated to Osceola, Nebraska where the family owned the Osceola Dry Cleaners.
Following Ron's high school graduation in Osceola, he attended Kearney State College and earned a degree in Business Administration. Ron's entire professional career was in various management positions for International/Navistar Trucks which brought him to eight different states during his 30 years with the company.
In 1966, Ron and Sharon (West) Buffington were married. A son Tory Dean, and daughter Tara West Teague, completed their family.
Ron was an outdoorsman from boyhood and loved to hunt and fish with his buddies and special dogs. He was always looking forward to the many new adventures he would have with those who shared his sporting enthusiasm. Ron was passionate about collecting and racing classic cars, mostly MOPAR. His other hobbies included boating, motorcycles, barbequing and designing Hosta gardens which would take your breath away. Ron and Sharon especially loved traveling to many Caribbean destinations and were often joined by special friends, making those trips even more memorable.
Many lifetime bonds were formed with his Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity brothers whom he remained in frequent contact and shared many memories over the years.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, son Tory, and sister Susan. Survivors include his wife Sharon, daughter Tara, five grandchildren, Joel and wife Amber, Garrett and wife Hannah, Riley, Evan and Ty; three great grandchildren, Jaylah, Emersyn and Everett; niece Sara Geise Moody, nephew Bill Giese and many special cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Penwell-Gabel in Olathe, KS.
