Roger James Mortimer

July 16, 1937 — November 26, 2024

James Roger Mortimer, 87, of Olathe, passed away on November 26, 2024 at Olathe Medical Center. 

He was born on July 16, 1937 to John Gilbert Mortimer & Dorothy (Scott) Mortimer at Valton, WI. 

Roger worked as a Teacher at Bishop Ward High School & was a school bus driver for both Durham & First Student.

On August 23, 1958, he married Vivian (Hedeman) Mortimer. Roger and Vivian lived in Kansas City, KS, Overland Park, KS &, finally, Olathe, KS.

He was a long time member of The Wesleyan Church.

Roger is survived by his loving daughters, Heidi Mortimer, Holly Collins, his son-in-law, Eric Collins & Grandchildren Alec Collins, Cameron Collins & Karissa Collins. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Mortimer, his son, Christopher Mortimer, his mother Dorothy Mortimer, his father, John Gilbert Mortimer & his brother, Curt Mortimer.

Memorial Service will be held December 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., at Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 14275 S Black Bob Rd., Olathe, Kansas.

Gina Colburn will be officiating. 

A grave side service for both Roger & Vivian will immediately follow the Memorial Service at Antioch Cemetery, 75th St. & Antioch Rd., Merriam, Kansas.
