Roberta Hildred Koch, 95, of Olathe, Kansas passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at her home in Olathe, Ks. following a life filled with love, devotion, generosity and service to her family, friends and community.
Roberta was born March 5, 1919 to Vernon Chesley Reeves and Gertrude Reeves in Piedmont, Mo. She spent her formative years in Elvins, Mo., where she was the first in her family to receive a high school diploma from Elvins High School in 1937.
Roberta, and her husband Charles, were married on December 31, 1939. They resided in Granite City, Ill. for 60 years. Their love and devotion for each other was exemplary. Roberta was an active member of St. John United Church of Christ where she dedicated herself as a servant to God, her family and her community. Her patience and gentle spirit were most evident throughout her life. For 24 years, Roberta worked for the Granite City Public School District in the school lunch program primarily at the Nameoki Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles E. Koch, her infant daughter, Karen, her parents Vernon Chesley and Gertrude Reeves, her brothers, Vernon, and Arthur, her sisters, Audrey, Emma and Katharine,
Robeta is survived by her daughter, Sharon B. Taylor, son-in-law, Arvil Taylor, two grandchildren, Stephen and Jennifer, and six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Brianna, Ashley, Logan, Kenton and Brekken all residing in Olathe, Ks.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at Crossroads Church on Tuesday April 22, 2014 with visitation form 6 – 7pm and the service conducted by Pastor Don Huitink will begin at 7pm. She will be laid to rest in the St, John Cemetery in Granite City, Il on Thursday April 24, 2014 at 11am.
Even though her physical life has ended here on Earth, she will live forever and ever within our hearts.
