Robert Stoner

June 28, 1930 — November 25, 2014

Robert "Bob" Lee Stoner, age 84 of Olathe, KS passed Tuesday, November 25, 2014 due to complications of a stroke. Robert was born June 28th, 1930 in Beagle, KS to Jake and Mary Stoner. His siblings included his older brother Max, his younger sister Helen and his youngest brother Billy. He attended Beagle Elementary School and Parker High School. He had many childhood friends including Bill Brownback and the Brownback family. He played football, basketball and ran track for a team that was too small to turn away members as there was no offensive or defensive teams, just players. Robert married Marjorie Johns in 1952 in Paola, Kansas after his service in the Navy where he was stationed at Oxnard in California. He served for a total of four years on the U.S.S. Suison AVP 53 and obtained the rank of Elctrician's Mate Second Class. Robert and Marjorie went on to have two sons that followed in their father's footsteps; Bobby as a serviceman in the Army and Chris as an electrician for the railroad. Robert was a member of the KC, MO Shriners and later transferred to the Kansas chapter. He was also a Past Master for the Masons at the Blue Lodge. He volunteered for Babe Ruth Little League games serving as an umpire and coach. He also coached the girls and boys basketball team at Hilltop School. Robert will be remembered for many reasons including his laugh, ornery nature (especially directed toward his grandchildren), and his love for his great grandkids.

Robert is survived by his wife; Marjorie Stoner of Olathe, KS; his son and daughter-in-law Chris and Lynn Stoner of Gardner, KS; his daughter-in-law Debbie Stoner of TX; his grandchildren Tiffany Benton, Jessica Magaha, Rebecca and Nathaniel Stoner; his great grandchildren Sarah, Daisy and Jasmine Benton, Brock and Maddox Magaha; his sister Helen of Cabot, Arkansas; his niece and nephew Denise Iverson and Ricky Stoner; and numerous friends including Jim Flackman, the Chrishjohn family and the Clancy family.

Robert is preceded in death by his son Robert "Bobby" Eugene Stoner, his older brother Max Stoner, his younger brother Billy Stoner, and his nephew Dennis Stoner.
