Robert Emmett Smith, 88, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022. He was born on January 17, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas to Frank and Mary (Galvin) Smith.

Bob grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the youngest of eight children. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Robert married Rosemary Long in 1957 and they were married for 65 years. Bob and Rosie had four children together. He worked for the Sante Fe Railroad for 45 years. Bob loved spending time with family, gardening, competitions, dancing, and making people laugh. He had a great sense of humor and loved to make others happy.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Rosie Smith; children, Karen Baumgartner (Dave), Kenny Smith (Lisa), Danny Smith, Rita Luallin (Scott), and eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.

The family will receive guests for a visitation from 9:00-10:00am on Monday, March 14, 2022, at Church of the Ascension, 9510 W 127th St, Overland Park, KS 66213, a memorial mass will follow at 10:00am. Burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery, 150 Muncie Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048 at 2:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in Robert's memory be made to Ascension Catholic Church or St. Judes Children's Hospital.
