Dr. Robert L. Reymond was an internationally acclaimed Christian theologian of the Protestant Reformed tradition. He is best known for his New Systematic Theology of the Christian Faith(1998). Reymond held B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from Bob Jones University and did post-doctoral studies at Fuller Seminary, New York University, Union Seminary (New York), Tyndale House, Cambridge, and Rutherford House, Edinburgh. Reymond taught for more than 35 years on the faculties of Covenant Theological Seminary (St. Louis, Missouri) and Knox Theological Seminary (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida), and was Emeritus Professor of Systematic Theology at Knox Theological Seminary.
Dr. Reymond was also an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in America and the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. He pastored several churches, including Hazelwood Presbyterian Church, in St. Louis, and Waterloo Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, IL. Dr. Reymond also served on the Presbyterian Church in America's General Assembly's Theological Examining Committee, and had retired from the pastorate of Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, a young congregation in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Reymond lectured in various countries in Europe and the East, and was the author of numerous articles in theological journals and various reference works, as well as more than ten books, including Paul Missionary Theologian (2003) and Jesus Divine Messiah (2003). Other books include a short biography called John Calvin: His Life and Influence (2004) and Contending for the Faith: Lines in the Sand That Strengthen the Church (2005), The God-Centered Preacher, The Reformation's Conflict with Rome: Why It Must Continue, What is God, and The Lamb of God.
Dr. Robert L. Reymond was born in Tuscaloosa, AL in 1932 and went to meet his Lord on September 20, 2013 in Olathe, KS at the age of 81. He was a devoted husband, wonderful father, and was loved as "Pee Paw" by his seven grand-children. Dr. Reymond loved root beer floats, which he enjoyed after dinner every night, and remained a life-long St. Louis Cardinal's fan. Dr. Reymond is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Shirley Reymond, by his three children Stephanie Morrow, Robert Reymond, Jr, and Jeffrey Reymond, in addition to his seven grandchildren.
