Robert "Jim" James Mitchell

Robert "Jim" James Mitchell, 59, of Olathe, passed away on May 30, 2019. He was born on December 22, 1959 in Kansas City, MO.


He grew up in Overland Park on Dearborn Street. He attended Shawnee Mission South High School and graduated in 1978. He played football through Junior and Senior High School. A sport he truly loved. He attended KU and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Botany. He married his wife of 25 years, Rose M. Harmon Mitchell, on October 15th, 1994. They have two children, Elizabeth and Robert. He worked in the printing industry for the past twenty-five years for such companies as Vestcom (20 years) and Plastic Packaging (3 years). His hobbies included coin collecting, gardening, working on cars, and spending time with his Yorkies, Lucy and Sophie. The two things he treasured more than anything else was his lifetime friendships and his family.


Jim is survived by his wife, Rose, and children, Elizabeth and Robert. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Mitchell.


The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Penwell Gabel's Olathe Chapel, with a Rosary at 5:30pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 10:30am at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe, burial will follow in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
