Robert Luna

April 23, 1949 — September 8, 2014

Robert E. Luna

Robert Luna was born in Jackson, Tennessee on April 23, 1949 and passed away on September 8, 2014 at the Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo. Bob was the second of four sons born to Bill and Catholene McAlexander Luna. He leaves his wife Barbra, daughters Tori and her husband Jason, and Adrienne and her husband Rob, and brothers Bill, Phillip, Tony and Charles to mourn his passing. Bob adored genealogy; his ancestors hailed from the Isle of Man and Scotland. Bobby was blessed with beautiful bright blue eyes, an independent spirit and a loving heart.

Bobby was an outstanding athlete, excelling in baseball from his early days in Little League on through high school at his beloved Jackson High. He played center field for the Jackson Babe Ruth All Star team that won the Tennessee State Title. During high school Bobby ran track, played baseball, football, and dated beautiful girls. He was also the Grand Master of his high school fraternity, the TEKS. This leadership experience and honor was a great source of pride. He loved his family and the good people of Jackson, Tennessee. They shaped him into the Southern gentleman we all loved.

After graduation from Jackson High School in 1967 Bobby worked at McCall-Hughes, a men's clothing store in downtown Jackson. Later, he worked at Owens Corning Fiberglass while he attended Jackson State Community College his freshman and sophomore years. He also attended Memphis State University's Electrical Engineering school. In 1971, Bob met the love of his life, Barbra Tucker, while working in the advertising department for Plough, Inc. They married after a twelve week courtship on Sunday, July 23, 1972. Their precious daughter Tori was born in 1975, followed 18 months later by their second daughter Adrienne.

In 1977 the family moved to Kansas City when he was hired by the then largest advertising agency in KC, Christenson, Barkley and Shaw. Bob had an entrepreneurial spirit and founded several successful businesses over the years and never grew tired of the challenge. He had amazing energy and gave 100 percent to whatever goal he set for himself.

Bob loved his wife and daughters beyond measure. Bob was a hands-on Dad. He never missed a gymnastics meet or a dance recital and he enjoyed watching them from the bleachers in their cheerleading days. Some of the family's sweetest memories of the girl's growing up years were their gymnastics meets, Christmases in Tennessee and weekends at their cabin on Table Rock Lake.
Bob was blessed with four grandsons; Houston Haake, Peyton, Palmer and Presley Petite. How they could amaze and delight him!

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Catholene, brother Gerald and Barbra's brother Tommy. He is survived by his beloved in-laws Adron and Betty Tucker, and brother-in-law Todd as well as sister-in-laws Lori, Pat, Sarah, Teresa and Betty. He took pride in being an uncle and loved and valued his nieces and nephews: Craig, Brian, Brad, Justin, Lauren, Trey, Taylor, Rhonda, Charles, Jr., Carly and Chelsea.

The family extends its appreciation for the many people who came forward with love and concern during Bob's ten-month battle with cancer.
