Robert R. Lathrop, 79, of Olathe, KS, passed away March 11, 2009.
Bob was born Jan. 7, 1930 in Herington, KS. He celebrated 57 years of marriage to high school sweetheart, Wilma Jean Boller. Bob graduated from St. Xavier's High School in Junction City, KS. and served in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War. After military service Bob worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte, NE. He graduated from Kansas State Univ. with a BA. He was employed by Ross Laboratories and later A.H. Robins living in Topeka, KS. and Joplin, MO. until taking a job as with the Builders' Assoc. of MO and ultimately retiring as a Compliance Officer with OSHA. He was a parishioner of St. Paul's Catholic Church and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1913. He belonged to the American Legion Post #153, Olathe, KS. As an avid outdoors man his favorite pastimes included hunting and fishing while sharing this time with many of his good friends and sons.
Bob was a devoted husband and father. He leaves his wife, Wilma and six children; Cynthia Lathrop, Hudson, NY; Nancy Lathrop, husband Tom Robinson son Andrew of Waterford, CT.; Mike Lathrop & children Sasha, Alex and Gabriel of KCMO.; Pat Lathrop, wife Jana & children Maegan, Parker of Lenexa, KS.; Denise Lathrop, husband Andrew Norton & daughter Della of Seattle, WA., Stephanie Lynch & children Kristin, David of Baldwin, KS. and sisters Aileen Alfano, Branford, CT., and Della Oglesby, Olathe, KS. Bob was preceded in death by his son Daniel Lathrop and brother Bill Lathrop.
