Robert Clyde Kimzey was born August 2nd, 1919 to Robert McQueary and Etta Neoma (Bryant) Kimzey near LaCygne, Linn County, and Ks. He entered into eternal peace on July, 23, 2012 after several months in the Evergreen Nursing Center in Olathe, Ks.
He attended school in Linn County until his family moved to Elk County, Ks where he graduated from Longton High School in 1939. His education continued at Pittsburg State Teacher College and he taught school at the Ninety-Six School House in Linn County near LaCygne, before enlisting in the Army Air Corp in January of 1942.
He married Cleo Jane (Marsh) Kimzey of Chanute, KS at Kingman, Arizona on June 25, 1943 and recently celebrated 69 years of marriage. To this union were born two children: Robert Eugene & Marsha Joyce Kimzey. After the war the family lived in Wichita Ks; while Robert worked 36 years at Beech Aircraft Corp, retiring in 1987 and moving to Chanute in 1989. In recent years the couple moved to Gardner, Kansas.
Robert belonged to the American Legion, Masons and was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Chanute. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed many family trips and gatherings.
Robert is survived by his wife Cleo of Olathe, son Bob and wife Tanya of Salina, Ks, daughter, Marsha and husband Steve Hammond of Olathe. Robert and Cleo were blessed by seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and a great granddaughter.
