Robert "Bob" Joseph Enright
Age 80, passed away March 17, 2009 at Royal Terrace Care Center, Olathe, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 837 S. Hillside, Wichita, KS 67211.
Bob was born May 5, 1928 in Kenneth, Kansas to Porter and Alice May Enright. He was a 1947 graduate of John P. St. John High School, and served our country in the Kansas State Guard in 1945. He was married to Cleo Arden Bowling in 1947, and together they raised three children, Lynda, Pat, and Casey. He later married Sharon Kay Rhodelander in 1978.
He retired from Kansas Power and Light in 1991, and was active in the Johnson County Historical Society. Bob enjoyed collecting Johnson County and Olathe memorabilia, sharing his findings during Old Settler's Days. He was proud of his numerous publications, featuring the history of Olathe.
Bob was a member of the Earl Collier American Legion Post #153, the Sons of Union Soldiers of the Civil War, and the Masonic Gardner Lodge #65, a member of the N.R.A., and the IBEW local union, and the All-School Alumni Association.
Surviving are his daughters Lynda (Smithy) Allenbrand, Casey (Chris) Thigpen, step-sons Darrel and Doyle Daniels, grandchildren Melissa, Melynda, Carl, Dani, Ben, Amber, Brandon, six step-grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Clarice Knox, double-cousin Terry Enright, nieces Anita Scrivner and Carol Gefre, and nephew Larry Knox, along with several great- nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, wives, Cleo and Sharon, and his son Pat Enright.
Bob was very proud of his Olathe heritage and his family history.
