Robert “Bob” Lynn Dunn, born April 18, 1945, in Gadsden, Alabama, passed away February 11, 2025, in Overland Park, Kansas. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord, Bob’s life was marked by love, dedication, and a passion for learning and adventure.
Bob graduated from Gadsden High School in 1964 and then worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, from 1965 to 1975. While supporting his family, he also pursued higher education at Jacksonville State University, graduating in 1974. Feeling a deep calling to ministry, Bob continued his education at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi, where he earned his Masters of Divinity. He was ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America in 1979, dedicating his life to serving others through his faith. After dealing with health issues, he retired as pastor of the Christ Presbyterian Church in South Kansas City in 2000.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Howard Dunn and Wanza Eiland Dunn. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Marie Webb Dunn; his three children, Robert Scott Dunn, David Michael Dunn, and Elizabeth Dunn Hill; and his five cherished grandchildren; and his brother Rodney Dunn.
Bob had a zest for life and enjoyed many activities and sports, including hunting, fishing, tennis, racquetball, basketball, and football. A lifelong Alabama Crimson Tide fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his team. His hobbies were just as diverse—he had a love for scuba diving, gardening, and classic cars. One of his greatest joys was attending car shows with his family and working on his classic car and truck.
Bob’s love for his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, love for his family, and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed but forever cherished. A service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at Penwell-Gabel in Olathe, on March 30th, with visitation at 1:00 pm, and the service starting at 2:00pm.
