Robert "Bob" Charles Harnetiaux, 82, of Hamilton, Illinois, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009
in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bob was born in Beardstown, Illinois on September 11, 1926 to Jesse and Goldy Harnetiaux.
After completing high school, he enlisted in the Army and served in WWII. After returning to the
states, Bob began carpentry and farm work. In 1956, he purchased the family house and farm
and in Hamilton where he continued to farm these many years.
Bob loved farming and growing sweet corn and other garden vegetables which he sold at
various farmer's markets in the community. He enjoyed hunting, boating and camping with friends.
For 24 Years, he and his wife, Mary, would travel to Texas for the winter months in their RV and
made great friends with many other "Winter Texans".
Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Harnetiaux, 3 daughters, Deana Fisher of
Overland Park, KS, Julie Surratt of Saint Peters, MO, and Nancy Lischer of Leawood, KS,
9 grandchildren, Natalie West of Dallas, TX, Melissa Clark, Craig Fisher, and Tyler Kettering
of Overland Park, KS, Alec and Tori Surratt of Saint Peters, MO, and Jack, Olivia and Paige
Lischer of Leawood, KS, 2 brothers, Leon Harnetiaux of Hamilton, IL, Jim Harnetiaux of
Carthage, IL, 3 sisters, Marie Carpenter of Roseville, CA, Dorothy Sparrow of Warsaw, and
Shirley Coe of Arlington, VA, 9 nephews, 1 niece and many cousins.
Bob was proceeded in death by his father, mother, first wife Betty and daughter Debra.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church in Hamilton, IL on Saturday, June 13
at 2pm followed by a burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, IL. Contributions (in consideration
