Robert L. Brown passed away quietly at home on September 10, 2012, carried forward on the love and support of his family.
Bob was born July 29, 1929 in Kansas City, KS to Virgil Brown and Dorothy (Price) Brown. He later welcomed stepfather Floyd Miles into his life. He grew up in Kansas City but spent many summers with his mother's family in Pea Ridge, AR. Bob attended Shawnee Mission Rural High School and served in the Army from 1951-1953 where he rose to rank of sergeant and was Tank Commander for his regiment.
Bob met Mary Fuemmeler in Glasgow, MO when she was 12 and he was 16. He didn't know it at the time but she would become the love of his life. They married in June 1954 and soon started a family that became the heart and purpose of both their lives. His love of family is evident in the activities Bob chose to invest his time in. He was a Boy Scout leader, CYO coach, president of the Olathe High School Booster Club, and a founder of Pop Warner football in Olathe. He and Mary were in the bleachers for every game or activity their six children participated in. He was also a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the American Legion, and enjoyed many fun evenings with Mary and their friends in Olathe's Holiday Club.
Bob was a homebuilder for more than 50 years and today there are hundreds of families in Olathe, Gardner, Spring Hill and Overland Park living in homes that reflect his craftsmanship.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother Max. He leaves behind Mary, his wife of nearly 59 years; six children Paul (Debbie) of Overland Park, Gary (Lynne) of Leawood, Mark (Aileen) of Olathe, Sherry Johnson (Jerry) of Snellville, GA, Jim (Chong Me) of Bonner Springs, and Rob (Kelli) of Evergreen, CO, 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. His legacy of family first, family always will live in our hearts forever.
