Robert "Bob" Carl Schubert passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, February 28, 2020 in Olathe, Kansas at the age of 76.
Bob married Rose Ellen (Berrier) Schubert on August 22, 1965 in West Independence, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, daughters, Heidi (Seth) Lund of West Fargo, North Dakota and Karen (Todd) Garrett of Olathe, Kansas and son, Keith (Ragan) Schubert of Fremont, Michigan. His brother, Ed Schubert. He is also survived by many grandchildren; Tyson (Ashley) Lund, Shayla (Austin) Pennick, Sydney Lund, Easten Garrett, Eva Garrett, Anna Schubert and Amos Schubert and five great-grandchildren; Aubrey, Olivia and Henry Lund and Braxtyn and Brynlee Pennick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen Schubert, and brother Sam Schubert.
Bob had a larger than life personality and a "heart as big as a house". He spent 45 years in education as a substitute teacher, bus driver, elementary teacher, principal and superintendent. He had many passions: Jesus, his family, the Church of the Nazarene, politics—especially the Republican Party, MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) and the Cleveland Indians (just to name a few). You would often hear Bob's deep, powerful bass voice booming out all of his "Schubert-isms" like, "wow!", "super", "fantastic", and "yes!"
Bob absolutely adored his family. He and Rose made every attempt to attend each special family event on the calendar like graduations, birthdays, parties and reunions. Over the last two months, he connected with each of his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and made sure to share with them how special they were to him, ending each conversation with "I love you."
Bob faithfully served in many Nazarene Churches across the country in various capacities. You would often find him ministering as a door greeter, teacher, in the church choir, leading music as the song director, and even as a District Licensed Pastor for a season. He held his membership in the Nazarene Church for almost 45 years.
Bob's foundation was his faith in Jesus. The anticipation of meeting his Savior at the gates of heaven was well communicated throughout his life. You'd hear him often exclaiming, "It will be a glorious day!"
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at College Church of the Nazarene, 2020 E Sheridan St., Olathe, KS 66062 on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the MidAmerica Nazarene University Endowment Fund or the Gideon's International.
