Rick Ross

February 3, 1956 — May 3, 2016

Rick Lee Ross, 60, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on May 3, 2016. He was born on February 3, 1956 to Billy and Peggy (Norman) Ross in Youngstown, OH.

Rick grew up in Spring Hill, KS. He graduated from Spring Hill High School and began working at Shawnee Evans where he met his wife Shari. Rick then moved on to work for Carter Company and had been with Star Transport for the last several years. Rick enjoyed watching and attending KU basketball games and Sporting KC games with his family. He was a "master landscaper" and an "expert" cook with his grill (according to him).

Rick is survived by his loving wife Shari; daughters Katie and Sarah; his sister Debbie; brothers Michael and Andy; nieces Michelle, Adrian, Heather, Amy; and nephew Ryan. Along with his "special extended family."

He was preceded in death by his parents Billy and Peggy; his sister Jan; and his mother and father in law Christina and Joe.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe. Wear whatever you would like, but we encourage you to wear your favorite sports attire, as that's what Rick loved so much. The family will receive friends for a visitation following the service until 7:30pm.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to either the International FoxG1 Foundation, 6505 Hillock Lane, Pearland, TX 77584 (http://foxg1.com/donate/) or to The Victory Project of KC by visiting (https://victorykc.org/donation) (Please copy and paste the URL addresses into your browser) or to The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, 5445 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66104.
