Richard Emmett (Dick) Wilkins, age 87, of Gardner, Kansas passed away on September 27, 2022.

Dick was born on June 13, 1935 to Floyd and Helen Wilkins in Mound Valley, Kansas. He graduated from Independence High School in 1953. He began working in the grocery business with his dad and was ask to manage a store at just 14.

In 1950 Dick met Jerry McBride at the Coffeyville Fair. They married on June 27, 1955, and had a son, Michael Wilkins and a daughter, Sheryl (Wilkins) Hayes.

He served in the Naval Reserve for 8 years He began his career in electronics in the early 60's. He held several different positions during his career with Electra, ACC, New Eagle Communications, ERC, and Gordos. He founded Custom Ceramic Circuits and Custom Hybrid Circuits. He and his coworker designed and built the Telestar Satellite and moved to manned flight missions designing and building electronics for the Eagle and Lander for NASA's Moon Missions.

He was passionate about two things in life, his family and cars. He overlapped those passions restoring and customizing cars with his kids and grandkids. He enjoyed car shows, car clubs, car races, and his car collection. The friends that he made through his obsession with cars meant a lot to him.

Forever loved and remembered by his wife, Jerry; son, Mike; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Darryl Hayes; Grandchildren, Darryl Jr. Hayes, Calvin (Coby) Hayes, Colton and Victoria Hayes, Austin Hayes; Great Grandchildren, Maddison and Cameron, Darryl (Tre) and Kalei, Kyrsten, Katelyn, Dylann, Isaac, Waylon, Avery, and Amelia; His sister, Elaine Julian and many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
