Richard Deane Thomas, Jr., age 56, passed away April 23, 2022 in Olathe Hospice House.
On April 23, 2022, Richard Deane Thomas, Jr, received perfect heavenly peace, "to be absent from the body and present with the Lord." II Corinthians 5:8
He was born June 29, 1965 in Kansas City, KS to Richard and Aline Thomas. He graduated from Washington High School in 1983. He loved to play tennis and was on the tennis team in high school. Upon graduation from high school, Richard attended the University of Kansas.
As a child, he accepted Christ and joined Second Baptist Church under the late Reverend Roy A. Reed. He was actively involved in various church ministries.
Richard was employed by the University of Kansas Hospital for three years. His friendly demeanor and love for conversation allowed him to make friends with everyone he met. In other words, he never met a stranger. He was skilled with his hands and learned a lot of his trade from his Dad. Richard worked alongside his Dad on many home improvement and renovation projects.
Richard Junior loved his family and friends. For him, his family and friends were most important. He would start calling early in the morning until the wee hours of the next morning. Sometimes he would talk for a long time and sometimes for a short time. But, the one thing you knew is he loved you and was concerned about you. Always giving and supportive, he helped however and whenever he could.
We all had names for Richard: Little Richard; Big Fluff; Richie Rich. He always had a nickname for you. No matter what you called him, if you knew him, you had a story about him.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Parents: Richard and Aline Thomas, Olathe, KS; two daughters: Crystal Horn, Orange, TX and RaShae Thomas, Kansas City, KS; brothers: Phillip (Veronica) Thomas, Raymore, MO and Justin Hutchingson, Kansas City, KS; a granddaughter, Tameya Horn; a grandson, Keyshawn Gray; special niece, Phillicia Thomas and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
