Richard Scott

Richard Lee Scott (Scotty) age 75, Olathe, Kansas passed away Saturday, November 10, 2007 in Olathe.
Scotty was the son of Charles Lee and Helen Marie Scott who preceded him in death. He lived most of his life in Olathe having graduated in 1950 from Olathe High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in France for most of his 4 years of service. Scotty loved football and was chosen to play on an Air Force team while in France. After being discharged from the Air Force, he attended Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Missouri. A temporary job in the summer with TWA became a lifetime career. He retired from TWA in 1991 after 32 years of employment. Retirement suited him well and he bought a home at the Lake of the Ozarks where he spent his time cruising the lake in his pontoon boat. Scott was an active member of the American Legion Post 153 in Olathe where he served in many capacities. He was a member of the Honor Guard and representative at various veterans' functions. Being a member of the planning board to develop the Veteran's Park in Olathe was an honor of which he was most proud. Most recently, he was solely responsible for restoring the shelter house on the grounds of the American Legion. He was also a member of the 40/8 and 32nd degree Mason.
Those who had the privilege of know Scotty will remember him as a quiet, generous and loyal friend who always had a smile and a good word for everyone. His favorite pastime was getting together with his lifetime friends, Tom Cooper, Bob Millbern, Bill Lawson, Keith Nease, and many others, remembering 'good old days'. One of his favorite sayings was "Let the good times roll". He will be greatly missed.
