Richard William Rinne

September 5, 1944 — December 10, 2020

Richard William "Bill" Rinne, 76, of Overland Park, KS (Formerly of Olathe) passed Thursday December 10, 2020. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Bill was born in Higginsville, MO to Martin and Clara Rinne. He graduated from Higginsville High School in 1962. He married Donna Dieckhoff March 31st, 1963. He started his career at Higginsville Dairy and eventually on to 7up Bottling Company where he spent 17 years as a route salesmen before taking a similar position at Iam's Pet Food and then Sunrise Express. He retired from Arrowhead Drywall in Olathe, KS in 2006 after spending 17 years there.

He was an active member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Olathe, Kansas where for many years he volunteered at lawn mowing, ushering and singing in the choir with Donna most of their married life. He enjoyed serving his Lord and Savior and was able to share his faith, even though people know he had "quiet ways".

Carpentry or lawn projects occupied many years of his life and as recently as last month. He enjoyed RV'ing throughout the US, fishing whenever he could, was a fierce pitch player, ping pong player and loved games of any sort. He loved the Royals and Chiefs and celebrated the recent World Championships of both.

BUT, most importantly, his family was the joy of his life: his childhood sweetheart Donna, pride in his two sons, daughter-in-law, and three granddaughters, one grandson-in-law and finally, his first great grandson born in 2020!

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Weston and Leland. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Donna Rinne of the home and their sons David Rinne (Lynita) of Olathe, KS and Murray Rinne of Canton, GA, grandchildren Whitney Henry (Kent and great grandson Thomas), Emily Rinne and Anne Rinne, sister Doris Bird, brothers Darrel (Juanita), Delmar (Lynne), Bob (Karen), Howard (Sherri) and sisters in law Betty Rinne (Leland) and Joyce Rinne (Weston).

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church or The Lutheran Hour. Donations to either may be mailed to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 13145 S Blackbob Road, Olathe, Kansas 66062.
