Richard Kenneth Oldham, age 90, of Overland Park, Kansas, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was surrounded by his family.
Richard was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1933, the only child of homemaker Ruby Reed Oldham and trucking company manager Kenneth Harry Oldham. He graduated from Langley High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before joining the Army in February of 1953 and serving for two years in Germany. Richard married his sweetheart Arlene Yutzey Oldham of Canton, Ohio on June 24, 1956.
Richard began his career as a draftsman for Limbaugh Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He worked his way up to an executive position at Semco in Columbia, Missouri, ending his career as a Vice President and plant manager for the Semco plant in Chillicothe, Missouri. Richard and Arlene retired to Lake Palestine, Texas, where they enjoyed boating and visits from family. They later moved to Overland Park, Kansas, to be near family.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Ruby and Kenneth. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Arlene Oldham; daughter Deborah; son Ken and daughter-in-law Sherry; son David and daughter-in-law Suzanne; and grandchildren Andy, Michael, Carla, Katie and Emily.
Visitation is Tuesday, February 27 from 5 to 7 pm at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, Kansas.
A private military burial will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.
