Richard E. Mathews, 71, Olathe, KS passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2006 in Overland Park, KS.
Richard was born February 20, 1935 in Garnett, Kansas. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a mining and aggregates consultant throughout his career both in business for himself as well as with Martin-Marietta Corporation.
He was a former president of the Kansas Limestone Association. He was named "Man of the Year" by the Knights of Columbus, Topeka Chapter. He also served as an elder at Calvary Lutheran Church in Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his wife; Marlene in 2002, parents, and sister; Joyce Mathews.
He leaves three children; Ginger Cook of Overland Park, KS, Jamie & husband Fred Taylor of Overland Park, KS, and Todd Mathews of Glen Allen, VA, two brothers; Joe and Jerry, sisters; Frances, Nadine, Norma Jean, Glenda, and Vickie, grandchildren; Chris, Corey, and Ashlyn. Step grandchildren Jamie and Jeremy.
