Richard Allen Leonard, 60, of Olathe, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2021 at Kansas City Hospice House. He was born on July 12, 1960 to Albert and Margaret (Hume) Leonard in Orange County, CA.
Rich was the son of a Marine and grew up in California and North Carolina before his family settled in the Kansas City area. He served our country in the U.S. Army and was proud to be a veteran.
He married the love of his life, Lisa Stevens, on February 21, 1982. They moved to the Boston area soon after, where Rich worked for Raytheon for many years. Upon returning to Kansas City in 1999, he served as a mortician prior to retiring in 2009.
Rich lived life to the fullest and loved many things but, was most proud of being a father. He loved live music and playing the guitar. Rich was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. He also enjoyed golf, playing poker, and spending time with friends and family.
Rich is survived by his loving daughter Kasey (Leonard) Laskowski and her husband, Matt of Olathe, KS; his mother Margaret Leonard of Olathe; sister, Diana Whiteaker of Fayetteville, NC; and brother Ronald Leonard of Independence, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert; wife, Lisa; and brother, Albert "Skip" Leonard, Jr.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to the Kansas City Hospice or to the family to help with outstanding expenses.
