On June 27, 1967, he married his high school sweetheart, Vicki Lynn Vaughn. When Dick left the military in 1968, he was hired by the FAA where he worked as an air traffic controller, a supervisor and internal consultant to the union/management partnership process at the Central Region Air Traffic Center in Olathe, Kansas. Dick enjoyed a career in air traffic for over 30 years. Following his retirement from the FAA, he started his own company, Team Dynamics, where he worked with groups, businesses, and organizations teaching facilitation practices, strategic problem solving and leadership skills. Over the past 20 years he volunteered in many areas at the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection at both the Leawood and Olathe locations. He served on the Board of Trustees, the Leadership Institute Team, Men's Ministry Team, worked in Mission Ministries, and was the best assistant Vicki ever had as he worked alongside her in every way in her staff position in KiDSCOR ministry.
