RICHARD E. ELLIOTT
Richard Elliott, 85, of Overland Park, KS died peacefully at his home August 1, 2008.
Richard was born in Independence, KS on September 18, 1922 to Alta and Verl Elliott. At Independence High School he met Jacquelyn Jane Baldridge. The two became engaged before he enlisted in the Navy, where he served as a pharmacist's mate during WWII. Following the Navy, Richard and Jacquelyn were married and he enrolled at Kansas University, where he graduated in 1948 with a B.S. in Chemistry. They had three children, Mark, Cheryl and Joyce.
Richard served his entire career with Phillips Petroleum, Bartlesville, OK. He traveled extensively internationally and retired in 1984 as Director of the Rubber Chemicals Division, where he held a patent for Particle Form Evaporation of Polymer-Liquid Mixtures.
Two years after Jacquelyn's death, Richard married Beverly Lee Stahl. They maintained homes in Durango, CO and Green Valley, AZ where they enjoyed skiing, golfing, and travel cruises. In 2002, Beverly and Richard moved to Overland Park, KS to be near family.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his first wife Jacquelyn, his second wife Beverly, and his daughter Joyce. He is survived by his son Mark, daughter Cheryl, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In honoring his wishes, no services will be held. The family suggests memorials to the charity of your choice.
