Richard "Dick" James Lally, 94, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. He was born May 25, 1926 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Rose Lally. He had 4 brothers and a sister, Edward, Joseph, James, Harry and Jeannette. Richard grew up in Chicago and went to Carl Schurz High school where he excelled in track and football, and was city-wide pole vaulting and high hurdles champion his senior year. He was drafted into the Army immediately after graduation in 1944 and served in WWII and the Korean War. He was one of the first American troops to occupy Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan near the end of the WWII. He married Loretta Cynthia Szczepaniak (Lori) on October 1, 1949. He is survived by his loving children, Cheryl (Lally) Micheles, Richard "Rick" J. Lally, and Patricia (Lally) Wade. Dick worked in the service industries, and spent 15 years with Service Master from which he retired. He enjoyed all sports, but was very active in golf. He leaves behind 6 Grandchildren; Heather (Micheles) Mares, Christopher Micheles, Jessica (Lally) Perez, Ian Lally, Michael Kean, and Jeffrey Kean. He also leaves behind 8 great grandchildren; Kaitlin, Christopher, Lauren, Ryatt, Cole, Isla, Elodie, Ryker. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lori, and brothers Ed, Joe, James, Harry and sister Jeannette.
