RICHARD "DICK" DANNIE BOWLES
Age 63, went home to be with the Lord on December 10, 2008. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe. Funeral services will be Monday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 2024 E. 151st Street, Olathe. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Deaf Cultural Center, Olathe, KS, or to the Challengers Sunday School Class in care of First Baptist Church, 2024 E. 151st Street, Olathe.
He was born in Kansas City, MO to Daniel and Helen Bowles, and married Karen Bricker in 1963. He graduated from Pittsburg State College in 1967, and received his CPA certificate in 1969. He was employed with Peat, Marwick & Mitchell as an accountant for five years, eventually retiring from Marion Laboratories at the age of 44. He then opened his own accounting practice, where he was able to meet and help many people in the Olathe area and within the deaf community. Richard was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church family, and was an interpreter for the deaf as well as led his own Sunday School Class for over 30 years.
He leaves behind his wife, Karen, and three daughters; Kimberly (Terry)Sickler, Kirsten (Douglas) Stoebick, and Kari (Robert) Taylor, and adopted son, Chad (Rochelle) Stone. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Zebulon, Nicholas, Keelon, Alexandria, Madigan, and Ryan, Cullen, Austen. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Bill (Penai) Bricker and many cousins and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter, Kristine Ann Bowles in January 2008.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the clients he served with dedication and a willing heart.
