Reverend Paul S. Deever
Reverend Paul S. Deever, 82, Olathe, KS, passed on with his loving family by his side on Saturday, August 14, 2010. He was a retired United Methodist minister, who took great joy in providing pastoral care for over 50 years.
He was born on April 18, 1928 in Hutchinson, KS to A.L. and Grace Deever. Paul attended York College in Nebraska and then United Theological Seminary in Ohio, where he earned his Master of Divinity Degree. He married Clarolynn (Scotty) Meeker on August 15, 1950. Together, they raised 3 children and served a number churches across the state of Kansas, including: Esbon, LaCrosse, Independence Grace Memorial, Shawnee Heights UMC, Topeka First UMC, and Silver Lake UMC. He also held administrative offices in both the Kansas East and Kansas West Conferences of the United Methodist Church, served as a hospital chaplain, a police chaplain, provided prison ministry and lead several overseas tours to the Holy Land. He retired in 1989.
Since that time, he has enjoyed additional travels, volunteer work, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lawrence, and sisters Gladys and Florence. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Scotty; children Catharine Deever, Jeanette (Garry) Worthington, and Robert (Donna) Deever; grandchildren Greg (Gretchen), Chris, Jennifer, Douglas, and Michael; great-grandchildren Greyson, Grant, and Greer.
The family suggests contributions to Saint Paul's Theological Seminary, 5123 East Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64127, in care of the Development Office.
The family would also like to thank his physicians and the staff of Olathe Medical Center for providing such wonderful care and support during his illness.
He will be remembered as a faithful and prayerful man.
