Dewayne was born July 16, 1944 in Hattiesburg, MS to Hollie and Olivia Parks. He was called to the ministry early in his career, which allowed him to visit many areas of our country during the course of his service to others.
His outreach in prison ministry assisted the Cook Co. Dept. of Correction, the Berrien Co. Dept. of Correction, the Rankin Co. Dept. of Correction, the George Co. Dept. of Correction, the Forrest Co. Dept. of Correction, the Johnson Co. Dept. of Correction, the Lansing Dept. of Correction, the Men's Work Release Program in Wichita, KS, and the Shawnee Co. Dept. of Correction.
Together, Dewayne and his wife, Helen, ministered Celebrate Recovery and Parenting in Olathe, KS.
Surviving are his wife, Helen, and five sons, Dewayne Raybond and his wife, Karen and family of Chicago, IL, Derrick and his wife Darlene and their family of Chicago, IL, Isiah and his wife Monial and their family of Blue Springs, MO, Garvin and his family of Nashville, TN, and Tylon and his family of Illinois. Also surviving are his sisters Omega Smith of Hattiesburg, MS, and Elizabeth Myrtle of Knoxville, TN, brother Hollie Parks, Jr., Detroit, MI,and sister Jean Posey of Rosenberg, TX.
He was preceded in death by his brothers A.B. Parks, Levi Parks, and Grady Parks, and his sisters Ethel Lewis and Elsie Morrow.
