Rev. Calvin Hale Morrow, age 88, most recently from Spring Hill, KS, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 10, 2013.
Calvin was born in Madill, OK on June 29, 1924 to the parents of Odie and Anna English-Morrow. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings. Calvin grew up on a farm in Oklahoma with an uncle and aunt, as his parents both passed when he was very young.
He enlisted in the Marine Corp. in San Diego in 1942. He served during WWII from 1942-1946. He then returned to his sister's farm in Lancaster, CA. where he met his bride, Johnie Martha Hanks. They married the following year and have been married 66 years, celebrating their last year together on March 1st.
They moved to Waxahachie, TX, with their firstborn son, Calvin Randy, to attend Bible College. They were both ordained by the Pentecostal Church of God. Following ordination, they served at Daniel Memorial Orphanage, in Fairfield, TX. They, also, were Directors of Great Plains Boys Ranch in Pettit, TX, and the Penecost Children's Home in Fairbanks, AK., where their youngest son, Cameron Hanks was born. They pastored churches in Colorado, California, Kansas, Missouri, and Montana. Calvin served as the District Superintendant of Pentecostal Church of God in Colorado, Montana, North & South Dakota. The couple served as Administrators of Bethel Christian School in Ontario, CA. Calvin and his bride retired from the ministry at the age of 76 and moved to Colorado to be close to family in 2002. They had recently relocated to Spring Hill, Kansas with their son and extended family.
Calvin's going home celebration will be held at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Olathe, KS. on Thursday, March 14th. His body will be laid to rest at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. He will be greatly missed, and forever held dear by the many people who were impacted by his tireless years of ministry.
Calvin is survived by his devoted wife, Johnie Morrow, two sons and their wives, 4 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
