Reed Lintner Barbour, 79, life long resident of Olathe, KS passed away January 16, 2007 at Aberdeen Village in Olathe following a short illness. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Olathe Medical Center.
Reed was born December 11, 1927 to Newell and Viola Barbour of Olathe. He was a 1947 graduate of Olathe High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He was founder and co-owner of Alloy Tool & Machine Company in Grandview, MO, retiring in 1990.
Reed was a member of First United Presbyterian Church and the Earl Collier Post #153 of the American Legion. He was an avid hunter, skeet shooter, fisherman and golfer.
He married Rachel (Fike) Barbour in 1950 and lived their entire married life in Olathe. He and Rachel traveled extensively in their motor home and spent winters in Texas where they made many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years; Rachel, his mother; Viola Barbour of Olathe, his sister Dorothy and husband Samuel Sinderson of Pittsburgh, PA, four nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
