REBECCA CALVIN ROBINSON

Rebecca Calvin Robinson, 71, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away at Kansas City Hospice House on September 28, 2012 after a long struggle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Born February 21, 1941 in Kansas City, Kansas, Becky was raised in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia, and was a 1959 graduate of Druid Hills High School. She attended Auburn University, where she met her husband, Jimmy Robinson.

Married for 49 years, Becky and Jimmy lived in over a dozen different locations in the United States and Europe, relocating several times due to job transfers with Jimmy's employer, Burlington Industries.

In 1997 they retired to Asheville, North Carolina, and spent many happy years in their beloved Blue Ridge Mountains before declining health for them both brought them to Overland Park, Kansas, to be closer to family.

Becky was an talented homemaker, hostess and cook who loved books, art, music, gardening, volunteering, movies, traveling, and friends and family. Her strong spirit allowed her to overcome breast cancer and survive with an oxygen tank for years longer than expected. She was loved by all who knew her and will be forever missed by her family and many friends.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia (Caudle) Calvin and Lloyd (Calovich) Calvin; her brothers Jim Calvin and Michael Calvin; and her husband, Jimmy Robinson. She is survived by children Mollie Robinson Wilner and son-in-law Jay Wilner of Olathe, KS, son Wade Robinson and partner Meagan Canepa of Los Angeles, CA, and daughter Ginger Robinson and son-in-law Mark Styers of Ardmore, OK; grandchildren Gus Eulitt, Taylor, Mica, Brixton, and Oona Robinson, and Riley Styers; great-aunt Anne Solomont; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kathleen and Jimmy Hall, and eight nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice, 12000 Wornall, Kansas City, Mo 64145, whose volunteers and staff were an amazing blessing to our mother's final months of life.

Following cremation, a private family memorial will be held in Asheville, NC in June 2013.
