Raymond William Adams, 83, Olathe, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Olathe. Committal of ashes will be held at 1:30pm Monday at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery with full military honors provided by Earl Collier Post #153 of the American Legion, from Olathe. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Kansas Lions Band Foundation and/or Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Olathe (to the actvities fund).
Ray was born August 9, 1921 in Sheridan Co, KS to Roy D. and Lina (Cox) Adams. He was a 1940 graduate of Decatur Community High School in Oberlin, KS. Ray was a WWII U.S. Army veteran in the South Pacific serving from 1942 - 1943, when he received a medical discharge. While in the service he received the Bronze Star, American Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman badge & Good Conduct Medal.
He married Margery K. Adams October 8, 1944 in Norton, KS.
He was a 50 year member of the Lions Club, the American Legion 61 years, and coached Junior Legion Baseball for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
He leaves his wife of 60 years; Margery K. Adams, a son; Steve and wife Kristi Adams, ; a daugahter; Kay & husband Scott Hansen, brother; Ivan Adams, and three grandchildren, and one great grand daughter.
