Ray A. Ricketts, 82, of Olathe, KS, passed away Tuesday March 9, 2010, at home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. March 16, at Roselawn Funeral Home, Pueblo, CO. Entombment will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Olathe, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Ray was born October 19, 1927, in Pueblo, CO, to Ray and Mary Ricketts. He graduated from the Paola High School in 1946 and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Ray was a stock broker by vocation and had 30 years experience on the New York Stock Exchange. He started his career in Kansas City, MO, where he worked as a broker for 7 years and then finished his career in 1983 after 23 years in a brokerage in Pueblo, Co.
While living in Pueblo he was a member of the Pueblo Christian Center and after moving to Kansas he enjoyed attending church when he was able. He was also a lifetime member of the Alamosa Colorado Elks Lodge.
Ray was a quiet, kind and compassionate man who enjoyed attending Air Force Academy football games and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Elizabeth Ricketts and step son Jerry Powers.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Ricketts of the home, 2 step sons Eddie and Bruce Sharp of Gardner, KS, grand children Todd and Jerry Powers, and Matthew and Kristen Sharp and great grand children Krystn, Evan and Austin Powers.
