Pauline Heinmiller, 84, of Olathe, KS went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 21st, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center. The family suggests contributions to MidAmerica Nazarene University scholarship fund.
Pauline was born June 4, 1928 in Birmingham, AL to R. Franklin and Ruby Bumpus. She was joined by 3 brothers (John, Robert and Joel) and one sister, Doris. After graduating from Ensley High School in Birmingham in 1946, she attended Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN, meeting husband James Edward Spruill. They were married September 5, 1948 and moved to Kansas City (KC). While James was stationed with the Air Force in Bermuda, their first son, Ron, was born January 26, 1954. Two years later, their second son, Gary was born in KC on December 22, 1956. James tragically passed away in 1966. To provide for her family, Pauline went back to college, becoming an elementary school teacher. While in Bethany, OK, Pauline met and married her second husband, Harlan Heinmiller in 1973 and moved to Detroit, MI. They returned to the KC area, settling in Olathe, KS in 1975. After 25 years of teaching, Pauline retired in 1990.
She was preceded in death by her father, R. Franklin Bumpus, her mother Ruby Bumpus, her first husband, James Spruill, second husband Harlan Heinmiller and step daughter Joene Chen.
She is survived by her two sons, Ron (Joyce) Spruill, Olathe KS, Gary (Tammy) Spruill, Peoria, AZ, stepson Don Heinmiller, Las Vegas, NV, 7 grandchildren, Rick (Angela) Spruill, Taren (Jonathan) McMurray, Cliff Spruill, Liz (Blake) Mokiao, Tanae (Nathan) Badley, Andy (Randi) Spruill, and Tylie (Ryan) Ellis, 6 great-grandchildren, her four siblings and several members of the Harlan-Heinmiller family.
