Protodeacon Theodore Phillip Rose, 76, of Bucyrus, passed away on September 18, 2018. He was born on September 12, 1942 to Lloyd and Dona (Middleton) Rose in Owosso, MI.
Theodore was raised in Michigan and received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1967 and his Master's degree from Purdue University in 1970. He married his beloved Cynthia in 1969, lived in Minnesota from 1977 through 2016, and was a State Farm insurance agent during most of that time. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral in Minneapolis, MN, and was ordained a Deacon in 1997. Theodore was most recently a member of Sts. Peter and Fevronia Orthodox Church in Merriam, KS since 2016. Theodore enjoyed playing golf and was a fan of the Michigan Wolverines.
Theodore is survived by his wife, Cynthia Rose; children, Fr. Zachary (Rachel) Rose, Julia Rose, and Kyle (Jessica) Rose; siblings, Margaret (William) Eaton, Roy (Debra) Rose, and Ed (Shawna) Rose; grandchildren, Theodore, Daria, Jonathan, Timothy, Matthias, and Nathaniel Rose.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Richard and Kathleen.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6 to 8pm on Friday, September 21st, at Penwell-Gabel funeral home (14275 Black Bob Road, Olathe, KS). There will be a memorial service at 7pm.
The funeral will be at 1:30pm on Saturday, September 22nd at Saints Peter and Fevronia Orthodox Church (10024 W 49th St, Merriam, KS). Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Overland Park, KS. A mercy meal will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given either to Saints Peter and Fevronia Orthodox Church or a charity of your choice.
