PHYLLIS JEAN FERGUSON
After a brave battle with pancreatic cancer, Phyllis "Jean" passed away November 16, 2005 surrounded by her family and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 19 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, KS. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 21, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 6630 Nall Ave., Mission, KS 66202 .
Phyllis was born in Pueblo, CO on June 22, 1938 to Fred and Phyllis Mack, and was a resident of Pueblo for 30 years. She attended Colorado Woman's College in Denver and graduated from the University of Colorado School of Nursing.
She moved to Olathe, KS in 1971 and was employed as a school nurse in Olathe for 27 years. Phyllis loved and cared for many children at Blackbob Elementary and Heatherstone Elementary Schools. She was loved and honored by school staff members, parents, and students.
She was an active member of the National Association of School Nurses, Olathe Junior Service League, Chapter IV P.E.O. of Missouri, Delta Kappa Gamma, and St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, serving as a chalice bearer for many years.
Phyllis was admired for her warmth, nurturing, and kind spirit by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her children Catherine (Kent) Krejci of Frisco, TX, John Ferguson of Manhattan, NY, her mother Phyllis Mack of Pueblo, CO, and her grandchildren Connor Krejci, and Katelyn Krejci.
Although Phyllis Jean had many activities and cherished friends, her most important success was the loving heritage she leaves in the pride of her two children. Her ultimate pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to Deanna Rose Farmstead, ARFOP/FOF, P.O. Box 26147 , Overland Park, KS 66225, or to the church. Her wishes were that all donations would enhance the world and education of children, the center of her life and adoration.
